Mi’kmaq
The Algonquian Indigenous nation that occupies the territory of Mi’kma’ki (Atlantic Canada and the Gaspé peninsula). This spelling indicates a reference to the collective or the plural form. It roughly translates to “family” or “relations.”

The installation is expected to take approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
Permits have been issued for the installation of a large culvert. As the area is considered fish habitat, the culvert is being installed in two sections (top and bottom). Simulated natural streambed material will be placed inside the culvert before the top section is installed to help maintain fish passage and protect the habitat.
During this phase of the project, the downstream end of the culvert will be constructed. To safely complete this work, the ramp will need to be closed. Completing this portion now will help avoid another ramp closure during the next phase of construction.
We appreciate your understanding and patience throughout this project. Please use extra caution, as traffic around the community will increase while vehicles are being diverted.Attention:
Due to the temporary ramp closure, there will be an increase in traffic along Highway 104, Highway 4, and Afton Road as motorists use alternate routes through the community.
Please use extra caution while driving, follow posted speed limits, and be mindful of pedestrians, cyclists, and children who may be outside enjoying the summer.
Parents and guardians are also encouraged to remind children to be aware of the increased traffic and to use extra care when near roadways.
We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation while this detour is in place.
