Chief & Council

The Band Council of Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation serves 614 band members (as of 2023). Council serve two-year terms, elected to office by community members. Council members receive an honorarium for their services while in office.

Band Council members each concentrate on specific portfolios of duties and are not employed in any other capacity by the Band to discourage any conflicts of interest while serving the community.

Buddy Young, Cultural Support worker with the Union of NS Mi'kmaw will be at the Elders Center starting at 12noon until 6pm - He can assist community members with accessing trauma supports. Also, Todd Vasello is available to meet with community members one on one.
Snacks and refreshments will be available.
We will doing a community smudge - drop by and smudge, have a cup of coffe/tea and a bite to eat.
