The Paqtnkek Gas Bar has been offering full service to customers since 2005 at self-serve prices.  A quick stop into or out of Paqtnkek, the station also offers convenience items to travelers, community members and guests.  The Paqtnkek Gas Bar offers regular and premium and fuel along with a full selection of motor oil, coolants and other lubricants.  An ATM on-site also serves customers daily.

The current facility will cease operations when the new Bayside Travel Centre offers retail gasoline and cardlock service in our new commercial development, scheduled to open in the fall of 2019.

Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation is seeking a Front Desk Receptionist for the Administrative Office. This position is responsible for a wide variety of clerical office duties in support of both the band operations and commercial enterprises. It also includes coordinating and communicating office activities, greeting and screening visitors, answering and referring to inbound telephone calls and correspondence with a high level of confidentiality.
Duties include:
● Present a positive and professional image of the organization to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries and other activities
● Meet and Greet individuals in a friendly and professional manner
● Answer telephone, email and in person inquiries from clients, business partners and other parties and refer to appropriate departments.
● Type forms, letters, reports and memos as necessary
● Log Incoming and Outgoing Mail
● Maintain and organize administration filing system
● Assist management and Directors when necessary
● Maintain the reception area in a tidy and presentable manner.
● General administrative office duties as required
Requirements:
● High School diploma or GED, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
● Strong knowledge of general office procedures
● Able to write simple correspondence, including memos, letters, etc.
● General Mathematical skills
● Adjusts and is flexible to meet changing work needs and demands.
● Knowledge of supplies, equipment and or/services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items.
● Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
● Able to maintain filing systems and basic databases.
● Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Strong interpersonal skills.
● Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.
● Strong customer service orientation.
● Uphold confidentiality in a high paced environment.

Overview
Work with our Innovation & Funding team in an internship capacity, with a focus on supporting
our innovation projects with partners.
We partner with a variety of organizations to help solve their challenges through innovation and
human-centered design. In this role, you will apply design thinking and innovation tools and
techniques to help support and facilitate our innovation projects.
While knowledge of international development-related topics is helpful, we are also willing to
provide on-the-job training on relevant topics to those with other areas of expertise.
Tasks & Responsibilities
● Learn to create materials to support with project implementation (e.g. project timelines,
concept notes, etc)
● Conduct background research for various projects and synthesize findings into a
research readout presentation
● Support with facilitation of innovation workshops, interviews, brainstorming sessions, and
concept shaping sessions
● Support with monitoring global trends in innovation, funding, and development for
applications to V2I’s work
● Support in developing and implementing V2I’s innovation strategy
