Our community is made up of Mi’kmaq people who have lived in this area for thousands of years.
We are a small indigenous community located in Nova Scotia, Canada, near the southern shores of Antigonish Harbour, directly off of highway 104, about 15 minutes from the Town of Antigonish.
Our community is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, including forests, lakes, and rivers. We take pride in our culture and traditions, which have been passed down from generation to generation.
Our community is home to a variety of cultural events, including powwows, traditional feasts, and drumming circles. We also have a strong connection to the land, and many of our community members are involved in fishing, hunting, and trapping. Our language, Mi’kmaq, is an integral part of our culture, and we are working to revitalize it among our people.
Despite the challenges that we have faced as an indigenous community, we remain resilient and committed to preserving our way of life. We welcome visitors to our community and encourage everyone to learn more about our culture and traditions.

Update:
The installation is expected to take approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
Permits have been issued for the installation of a large culvert. As the area is considered fish habitat, the culvert is being installed in two sections (top and bottom). Simulated natural streambed material will be placed inside the culvert before the top section is installed to help maintain fish passage and protect the habitat.
During this phase of the project, the downstream end of the culvert will be constructed. To safely complete this work, the ramp will need to be closed. Completing this portion now will help avoid another ramp closure during the next phase of construction.

Please use extra caution while driving, follow posted speed limits, and be mindful of pedestrians, cyclists, and children who may be outside enjoying the summer.
Parents and guardians are also encouraged to remind children to be aware of the increased traffic and to use extra care when near roadways.
